Our sod is designed and produced to exceed the performance demands of turf required in today’s ball fields, play grounds, and golf courses. Our special blend provides excellent wear tolerance, recuperative capacity, and surface resiliency.
Big Valley Sod Farm was established in 1968 by Wayne Booker and has been family owned and operated ever since. It began with 40 acres and increased over the years with Kentucky Bluegrass specially formulated for the Rocky Mountain Region.

Fertilization
Choose your fertilizer well and fit it to your own need. We recommend fertilizing in the early spring and following at 30-day intervals. Upon completions of the sodding your lawn should be fertilized within 20-30 days to give it a good start. Any time the grass turns yellowish-green more than likely it needs fertilizing.
Normally a fertilizer with a 20-20-10 ratio is good for any lawn as long as care is taken in the application and watering. Always water the fertilizer in the grass. This will prevent fertilizer burn. We recommend application with a rotary spreader as it is the easiest and fastest way.
Watering
Grass demands more water after being taken up and replaced than perhaps at any other time. A good rule to follow is this: When you water newly laid sod, do it at least three times a day avoiding excessive run off.
Rooting normally is accomplished after 2 or 3 weeks. After this time watering can be decreased.
